Week 2 Communication

This week, I watched my favorite show online called the "Tommorrow People".  I watched the show with the sound turned off, and I could tell when the characters were tense or upset based on their facial expressions and the situations they were in.  The characters had issues that caused them to be tense, which included fights and arguments.  In some scenes, the characters were excited or laughing.

I watched the show with the sound turned on, and there were some scenes where I was correct about the facial expressions and body language.  In other scenes, I was a little off.  This helped me to understand how body language and nonverbal communication play a role in understanding others.  In face-to-face communication, I have the ability to read the verbal and nonverbal communication of others.  Therefore, I have learned that I must pay close attention to determine a person's mood or tone.

  1. Hi,

I agree that experiencing a combination of both verbal and nonverbal communiations will help people understand the communication better. The nonverbal communication helps us to understand the verbal communication better. If you try to watch a show in a foreign language that you are able to use and understand, then you'll experience the help of nonverbal communication for the whole understanding.

  2. Hi Geneen!
I agree that we need to pay closer attention to a person in order to be able to determine what mood they are in. Through nonverbal communication we can learn so much from an individual but through verbal communication we understand the person even better.
    Thanks for sharing!

  3. I agree with you after watching without the sound, it is very important to pay attention to non verbal communication. I realize you can learn a lot from non verbal cues, so a combination of both will allow for better communication.
